Doulas are trained in understanding birth, birth interventions, the position of the baby and how to position your body accordingly. We are also trained in pain management and effective comfort measures. Hiring a doula is like hiring a big sis who has been exactly where you are and has all the professional information to help you navigate the ins and outs of birth. We know the tips and tricks to help things go smoothly!

A common misconception when hiring a doula is that a doula will replace the birth partner. My job as a doula is to hold all the details of your birth plan and my own experience so that your partner can focus on you. I love empowering partners to feel confident and capable in the support they can provide their loved one.

A doula provides emotional, physical and verbal support to the pregnant person through coaching, comfort measures, position changes and knowledge of birth to help inform the expectant parents. A midwife is a medical professional who monitors the baby and mother's vitals, administers medications if needed and provides all medical support needed in a home or birth center environment.

This is a really common thing I run into all the time. Often sitting down in a meet and greet and allowing your partner to have any questions or concerns addressed can go a long way. It is really important that you and your partner feel comfortable with whoever you hire. This is why I offer free, no-pressure, meet and greets. I always recommend you meet with more than one doula to make sure whoever you end up with is a good fit for your birth team!

I am happy to break down my service fees into manageable payment plans so that the cost feels less overwhelming.

I attend many medicated births! Helping you position your body to get baby in an optimal position is really important regardless of your pain management plans. Doulas also come in handy when it is time to push. I do a lot of push-coaching to help you and baby work well together.

Birth can be unpredictable. If you end up needing to birth your baby in the OR, I will try and be in the OR with you. If I am not allowed back into the OR, I will be waiting for you when you and baby get out. I will assist you with getting baby latched and stick around to make sure you have everything you need.
